The Redskins November 3rd game against the San Diego Chargers was a thrilling game for every fan rooting for the Burgundy and Gold. After an epic defensive goal-line stand and a sensational touchdown drive for the overtime win, fans at FedExField were overcome with Redskins pride.
One fan was particularly joyful, however.
Kevin Cox, a Redskins season ticket holder since 2010, turned his pocket change into over $5,000, simply by purchasing raffle tickets from the Redskins Charitable Foundation 50/50 Raffle.
“It was the best ten bucks I’ve ever spent,” Coxsaid, saying he plans to use the money for his upcoming vacation to Punta Cana—and of course to pay for next year’s season tickets.
Cox said he couldn’t believe it when he won.
“We’ve heard about [the raffle and saw] it at the stadium the past few games,” Cox said, “but this was the first time we played.”
When asked which win was his favorite, Cox was at a loss for words. “Both were equally special.”
The Redskins are among the first teams in the NFL to feature a 50/50 raffle, a format in which half the raffle proceeds go to charity, and half go to the winner.
The Redskins Charitable Foundation partners with local non-profits such as The Navy League, Make-a-Wish, Muscular Dystrophy Association and more, using the 50/50 raffle to continue making an impact on the greater-D.C. region.
Tickets are sold in tailgating lots prior to the game and on FedExField’s main concourse and club levels during the game.
